How-to: Apply Printable Water Bottle Labels

Personalized water bottle labels are a fun thing to add to any event. Learn how to apply them to any bottle.

They are super easy to do too!  I made a short video to show you how you can do it.  (don’t laugh too hard – it my first time in front of the camera!)

Once you’ve downloaded your file you can print on a full sheet label (such as Avery 8165) or if you have a lot to do I would recommend onlinelabels.com I’ve used #OL1159 on the past.  The Paper Shamrock’s printable files are formatted for 5 – 8.5″x2″ labels per sheet.  After you’ve printed and trimmed as needed, it’s just a matter of “rolling” the label on – that’s the little trick!  Watch below…

A Real-life Party Table!
5 Steps to Make a Party Table Easy

Last week I had a “Girls Night Out” theme party at my house.  Just a night with girlfriends to come and shop from some small business women (see their links below).  I wanted to create a theme party table to show just how easy it can really be.  I put it together in my house, no photo studio and no photoshop.  I loved the way it turned out.  And the best part – All within my budget!

First Step: Theme – I decided to go with Girls Night Out.  I knew I wanted black and white with a splash of bright color.  I choose pink as the primary color but, added splashes of purple, yellow and lime green.

Second Step: Menu – My partner in crime, Jen and I thought about it and figured a dessert table was the best way to go.  So, we had candies, cookies, cake-pops, cupcakes and a fruit salad )for those that didn’t want to indulge to much).  Then we picked a few signature drinks – pink ones of course!!

Party Table Set-up

Third Step: Inventory – Take a look at what you have and what you can borrow.  Try your best to get matching or coordinating pieces.  If you don’t have the piece you need don’t spend a fortune on anything!! Chances are you might not even use it again.  I found so many great deals and the local dollar store, craft store and discount retailers (ie. TJ Maxx or Marshalls).  When I couldn’t find what I wanted I made it.  Now don’t worry, I’m not talking about a huge craft project I’m talking about some good old fashioned spray paint! But that’s a story for another blog day.

Fourth: Mock Layout – Nothing fancy just lay all your pieces out on the table so you can get an idea of how it all works together.  Some layout tips – Work in a pyramid.  Have your main piece or largest piece in the center and work around it.  Try to keep things symmetrical but keep in mind that odd numbers create greater effect.

Fifth Step: Order Printables – You had to know that was coming :) The little pieces that pull it all together. Check out all The Paper Shamrock’s printables

On this table set-up I used:

Framed Invitation

These can be downloaded and printed at home or The Paper Shamrock can assemble them for you.

Over the next couple of blogs I will be pulling apart the table set-up and letting you know just how it was all created.  You can do it to – It’s much simpler than you may think!  (Don’t let Pinterest scare you anymore!)

I’d love to hear what you think about this party layout.  What do you like? What would you do different?

400-Kids-Games

My mother gave me this book that belonged to my Grandmother, “400 Games for School, Home and Playground,” to help me come up with ideas of games to do with my children.  It’s awesome!!

400-Kids-Games-samplepage

I love the images.  It really shows the time period.

Most of the games listed are a little dated but, I found a few tag games that are just timeless!  I recruited a couple of neighborhood kids to try some games and they had a blast. I’ve listed some of the games from the book as well as some newer ones below, to play at your kids next party or when you find your backyard full of kids!

Blind Man’s Bluff
Kids Games - Blind Man Bluff Tag

The basic gist of this game is – whoever is “it” is blindfolded. The rest of the children form a circle around “it” and try to get away without breaking the circle.  If you get tagged then you become it and go into the center of the circle.  Lots of squeals and giggles as the kids tried to get away from “it.”  I spray painted a box in the yard (my husband just loved that! lol) as bounds to keep them from going everywhere, cones could be used to do the same thing.

Link Tag
Kids Games -Tag

In this version of tag when the person who is it tags someone else they link arms and join forces.  Then two become three and so on until there is only one player left.

I also thought it would be fun to add a game from my generation…with a twist

Lawn Twister
Kids Games - Lawn Twister

Again with the spray paint (I had way too much fun with that stuff), I cut a circle template and made a twister template on the yard.  I found a free app to use as the spinner – Twister Commander.  Great way to help kids with their left and rights!

How about this to cool off on a hot day…

Sponge Relay
Kids Games - Sponge-pass

Kids use their feet to pass a soaked sponge down the line.  The first team to get the bucket to the fill line wins!  I just used a car sponge and a clear bucket from Home Depot.  Word to the wise – don’t make the fill line to high – or you might be there forever!

Other water relays to try:
Water Balloons – Toss the balloons down the line and if they make it all the way down smash them in the bucket until you reach the fill line.
Up and Over – Each player has a cup. The first player fills his or her cup and dumps it over their head into the player’s cup behind them.  This is continues down the line, until the fill line is reached.

When you’re done your festivities make sure the kids a have a token to show them they are all winners!  Download the file below and follow the simple directions to create your own “I’m a winner” ribbon.

Award Ribbon Directions

Supplies needed scissors, stapler, glue, two inch hole punch (optional) 1. Cut out all pieces and fold large piece accordion style.  Use the dotted lines as a guide.  2. Trim edges to create scallop.  4. Fold accordion in half to create crease.  Fold in both directions.  4. Staple in crease.  5. Add small amount of glue to tab.  6. Flip over and fold tab over backside to create rosette.  Do same on other side.  7. Tah dah! 8. Add glue to backside of “I’m a winner” circle.  Use your finger to spread the glue evenly, this will help it to dry better. 9. Glue tassels together, then add dab of glue to top tassel.  10. Add rosette to the top and press down. 11. Cut tassels in diagonals.  Add a safety pin to the back for your winner to wear home or add to a gift bag!

Printable Birthday Cards

So last week I had to make a last minute stop at WalMart to buy yet another birthday present for one my children’s friend’s birthday parties.  After spending $30-$40 on a gift I’m not even sure they want, I headed over to the card aisle.

5 DOLLARS for a card!!!

Ok I get it – I of all people understand the cost of printing and manufacturing of printed materials. If I was sending a card to my Mother on Mother’s Day or a heartfelt Thank you to a dear friend, $5 is no big deal.  But for a card that a kid barely looks at…it made my stomach turn to think how much money I’ve wasted over the years.

Why haven’t I done this earlier???  I’m lazy! LOL  I always have grand plans to make an elaborate designed card – ya… that never happens!  So, my grand idea was to make printable birthday cards!!! YEAH!! And I’m sharing them with you.

Click here and you can download a PDF containing pink and blue versions.  Just print on an 8.5″x11″ sheet of card stock and cut into quarters.  The cards will fit into A2 sized envelopes (available at office supply stores).  Print as many as you need as often as you need and save tons of cash!!!
